BACKGROUND: Starr grew up in a single-parent household with her mom and two younger sisters in Fort Collins, Colorado. As far as Starr can remember her father was never around and after her youngest sister was born, left all together. Starr’s mom worked hard to support them, but even with that the best they could afford was a small apartment.

Even at an early age Starr was fairly popular at school. She liked being around people and making new friends. Starr also liked performing at an early age. Her mother tried to get her into things like dance and gymnastics, but she couldn’t afford to enroll her in schools for very long. Starr enjoyed it while she could though and had a lot of fun with it.

For the most part, she had a happy and normal childhood, her powers staying dormant until early high school. It started out with getting songs stuck in her head out of nowhere. That didn’t seem too weird, but it seemed like the songs were always on shuffle. Starr mostly ignored it and went on to try out for the cheerleading squad. Again, cheerleading came super easy for Starr, it was like she could just watch the girls do their tumbles and flips and she could easily repeat it.

Starr wasn’t stupid. She started to put together that something was off here. It only got worse when the music started to get louder. Her friends would look at her funny if she ever brought it up. Things went down hill from there. Starr was clearly learning the cheer routines far too fast and the other cheerleaders were starting to get hostile about it.

She didn’t want to burden her mom with any of her problems at school, but her mom knew something was up regardless since Starr was being so quiet. Starr was also getting short with her sisters, the stress from school added to the fact that she was constantly hearing music in her head. It didn’t take long for Starr to crack and confess to her mom that she felt something was wrong with her.

It was only by chance that Starr’s mom had been hearing about Xavier’s School for Mutants. She proposed to Starr that they look into testing to see what it was. At first Starr was kind of upset to find out that her ease with picking things up was due to a mutation. She just couldn’t believe it.

Her mother was accepting though and quietly suggested that Starr look into enrolling at Xavier’s. Starr wasn’t sure how they would afford it, but thankfully the school was more interested in helping her than taking their money and allowed for Starr to come regardless of her financial situation.
PERSONALITY: Starr is a very outgoing girl. She likes making friends and being around other people. Of course, it's not all about popularity, she likes helping people too. If she can make just one person smile it will make her day. Starr is the spunky sort of girl who likes to have fun. She's also very sassy.

Don't let her blond hair and former cheerleader status fool you though. Starr is anything but a ditz. She's very intelligent and makes high scores in her classes. Not only does she have brains, but she has guts too. The girl is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and is not shy about doing so. Starr is extremely assertive so if you have a problem with that...well tough. She's very protective of people close to her and will do anything in her power to make sure they are happy.
APPEARANCE: A pretty blond with bright blue eyes. Her hair is naturally wavy and falls to her shoulders. She’s fairly tall and has a nice muscle tone. She dresses fashionably when she can, but doesn’t mind just jeans and a shirt either. Her skin is somewhat on the pale side.
POWERS:
Musical Empathy- Starr can pick up the feelings of others in the form of music. It's a strange form of empathy and even now Starr doesn't fully understand what this means. It does make it fairly easy to read people, she just has to listen to their music. Unfortunately, when there's a lot of people, the musical emotions can start to overwhelm her, resulting in headaches.
Muscle Mimicry- Starr's other power is also a fairly passive ability. After seeing an action performed once (ie a dance move, a flip, or a complicated judo throw), Starr can replicate that action. Starr uses the power fairly subconsciously and sometimes she doesn't even realize she's picking up how to do something from someone.
ANYTHING ELSE?: Starr HATES her name. She will always refer to herself as Starr and it is very unlikely that she would let people know what her actual name is. In the past she used to go by 'Andi.'

- RP SAMPLES
First-person sample:
[Private]
I can't believe I had to leave mom like that. I know she'll be okay, but I really can't help but worry that she's going to need me while I'm here and I won't be able to get to her. I've only just gotten here and I'm homesick. That's really lame.

Well, I'm here now, so I guess there's no going back. You just have to keep moving forward, one step at a time.
[Public]
Hi everyone, I know I've gotten here a little late. I'm usually pretty punctual, but I had a few things to deal with at home first. I hope I won't be too far behind.

Oh! You all can call me Starr by the way. What sort of extracurricular stuff do you all have here? I mean, aside from the mutant thing.
Third-person sample:
"You're such a freak, Starr! There's no way you can already know the routine! I only did it once."

"I'm telling you I know it!"

Starr stormed up the stairs of the apartment complex, tears in her eyes. She wasn't going to cry though, not over something like this. Starr knew she was better than that. It was so hard though.

This wasn't the first time her squad had berated her for this. She'd even proceeded to prove that she knew the material, but had stopped halfway through because she could feel their hateful stares. It hadn't helped that their hatred had composed itself into a very loud song. She could still hear that music pounding in her ears. What was this? Where was this music coming from and how could she know those routines after just watching them once and without practice?

"Welcome home sweetie."

Starr looked up when she heard her mom's voice. She quickly wiped at her face, just to make sure it was dry, "Hey mom." Starr dropped her bag by the door and flopped onto the couch in the living room.

Starr's mom must have noticed something was off because she peaked in on Starr from the kitchen, "Everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." Starr turned the television on, she knew she should talk about it, but she just didn't feel like it now. At first she wasn't really listening to the broadcast until she heard the word 'mutants.' Starr straightened and listened as the newscaster discussed with someone some recent events in congress concerning mutant registration. It occurred to Starr that maybe...maybe this was why she was so different from everyone. It would certainly explain the music she kept hearing. Starr looked over her shoulder at her mother and asked, "Hey mom...what do you know about this mutant stuff?"
